"Unico" is a 3yo Friesian stallion available for lease or sale*. Unico is a stunning boy loaded with potential that I haven't had a chance to develop yet but refuse to let go to waste. He was purchased as my dressage prospect as he's a great mover and very smart, but temporary work constraints and changes in facilities require me to do what's best for him and temporarily offer him for lease. I'm looking for a care lease, ideally a him as a schooling, student, or a prospect horse for either an experienced dressage program and their riders/trainers or an experienced solo dressage rider/trainer. A partnership with the right fit that helps offset some costs on my end and provides him with the interaction and education he deserves would be ideal and those that are interested in such will be given priority. I'm very open to flexible terms and would love to find the right agreement that works for all of us. I am open to selling him to the right home, but it's not currently my priority. Unico is sired by Meinte 490 Sport Elite AA (Beart 411 x Anton 343), a Grand Prix stallion that gifted Unico the same flashy movement, quick mind, and noble beauty. Ellisa Kroll, the talented rider that helped Meinte achieve his Sport Elite, quoted Meinte as "extremely athletic, willing to work, and very smart." (https://kfps.nl/nieuws/ellisa-kroll-rijdt-meinte-490-naar-sport-elite-hij-is-ongelooflijk-slim/) Unico is out of an excellent Kroon AA Norbert 444 x Ulke 338 driving mare that passed on plenty of similar traits and produced multiple champion and Ster offspring from the Anton 343 and Jasper 366 lines. (https://kfps.nl/nieuws/antonia-yl-ster-anton-343-kampioen-centrale-keuring-westkust/) Unico's pedigree is of the highest caliber and a very solid foundation for a quality athlete. With almost no prep or conditioning and shortly after being shipped almost 1k miles to a new home, Unico achieved a 2e premium at his first inspection as a 2yo. The judges acknowledged his great racial type, hair, and balance in body. Unico has been boarded and handled since birth but is also currently exhibiting the need for a job. He can be a bit hot and restless when unhandled for too long but really shines when put to work and asked for effort. When his needs are met, he's a very friendly and inquisitive boy. He picks up on training concepts very quickly and in experienced hands, I believe he would truly excel. No major vices or issues, but he can be "studdy" and requires a handler/rider familiar with stallion behavior. Unico has not been officially started but accepts a bit/chain willingly and understands basic groundwork concepts. Stands for the farrier, vet, clipping/grooming, and while in cross-ties/tied. With some fine tuning and a few wet blankets, Unico is ready for his next chapter. Currently standing at 16hh and updating his vaccinations, deworming, and farrier work.
