The Golden Rule aka “Gully,” is a gorgeous palomino, coming 11 year old, 16.2 hand Belgian/Hanoverian crossbred. Gully has hunted five seasons with over a dozen hunt clubs across Maryland, Virginia, and South Carolina and has taken many guests on their first hunt. He would be perfect for someone who is looking for an alternative to a thoroughbred but still wants to keep up with first field. Extremely balanced and comfortable to ride at all gaits, with a rocking horse canter that is easy to sit. Gully never pulls, stands quietly at checks, and is overall a perfect citizen in the field and knows his job. Gully also spent the last two seasons eventing, taking an adult amateur dressage rider from never jumping before to winning the Area II Championships at Starter within two seasons. He is easily capable of dressage scores in the 20’s; extremely well schooled on the flat and supple for his size, easy to put in the bridle, and knows his lateral work. Gully is more of a “kick” ride in his flatwork, but not a deadhead – the better the rider, the lighter he is off your aids. Gully has truly been exposed to truly everything, and has been the trusty “go to” guest horse for camping and beach trips, foxhunting, trail riding and more. Has never been lame in the last seven years. Gully has a big, fun, “cheeky pony” personality. He has always made me very proud and a suitable long-term match is important.
