Pepper is taking applications for his next perfect partner. This 15hh 11 year old American Curly gelding is athletic, personable, versatile and FUN! Curly horses are known for their kind and intelligent demeanors, they have a special niche in the therapy horse world as their coat is hypoallergenic, like a poodle's. Pepper is a fantastic representation of those traits, first to meet you at the gate, easy to handle both on the ground and under saddle. He stands nicely to be groomed and tacked, safe for beginners to handle and quiet even in a busy barn atmosphere. Pepper can ride English or Western, alone or in a group. He started his riding career as a trail horse and has lots of miles outside of the arena. He knows how to sidepass, leg yield, and pivot as well as neck reins. He has a great whoa. He has been in a professional program since October building the fitness and skills needed to become a successful competitor in both the combined training world and the equitation rings at USHJA shows. He has been to two SCDCTA combined training shows, competing at Beginner Novice, bringing in blue ribbons with clean jumping rounds and scores in the high 20's. He showed in the Pre-Childrens at the Progressive C shows where he held his own, frequently bringing home ribbons over fences and always allowing his rider to shine in the equitation classes. Pepper would be best suited to someone who is already competing at BN or Novice level who is happy to stay there and is looking for a fun horse who is consistent and reliable. He has the motor to get around courses safely and is willing to do enough dressage to get to the jumping. He's not going to want to be a straight dressage horse, unless it's on a softer rein like Western dressage. Bonus points to the rider if they want to dabble in working equitation, fox hunting, trail riding, gymkhanas, and all the things. Up to date on everything - currently barefoot but does appreciate front shoes when the ground is hard or rocky. Easy keeper, good in a herd. He prefers to live outside but is quiet and neat in his stall. If you're looking for a low drama partner to go out and learn and enjoy horse life with, Pepper is your guy! I'd love to have him stay in my program and get to see a happy partnership grow with a unique and distinctive teddy bear of a pony.
