A trail rider’s dream: a registered 12 year old Tennessee Walking Horse Mare. I have been riding her for 10 years. She went to a trainer for 60 days as a coming three year old, then ridden on trails all over southeast Michigan. She performed really well at a Michigan Championship Show & Futurity in 2015 (Video available) and recently went to a fun show although we didn't win any classes she showed class by really trying in everything we did. She is not a beginner’s horse. I consider her a safe horse for anyone who knows how to stay connected, through the reins and through the body. She rides in a Myler Comfort Snaffle Bit. She’s responsive to light pressure on the reins and moves away from the leg. She will stop or slow down when you squeeze your knees (turn your toes in). She backs up willingly and can side pass in either direction. She will stand attentively while being mounted and dismounted. She goes in and comes out of the trailer calmly. She has never pulled back while tied. She has never bucked, reared, or run away with me. She can be ridden with other gated horses or with quarter horses. You won’t have to keep pulling back on the reins to keep her moving slow to stay in pace with a slower horse. She is also comfortable going at a faster pace with other walking horses. Most of the trail riding I have done is alone. Her speed when alone varies according to your energy. She goes out amazing alone, she is not barn sour leaving or returning to the barn. She is spooky when she is by herself. When we ride alone I ride with more connection so that I am prepared to support her when animals move around in the tall grass and woods around us. She will spook in place when startled. She has amazing ground manners. She respects your space and is easy to move around, left, right, forwards, and backwards. She’s not afraid of tarps or flags. She will lower her head into the halter and also the bridle. She has allergies that make her itchy. In the fall and winter months allergy shots are given once a month, in the spring and summer they are given once a week. She is up to date on vaccinations and coggins. Her teeth and her feet are well maintained. I am selling because I will be 62 this year and I have decided to take up a safer sport. Tons of pictures and videos available upon request
