For your consideration: “Mini” This Bay Roan Quarter horse mare may be the diverse partner you have been looking for, especially for an amateur rider looking to take a step up! Mini was never originally registered and is sold as a grade mare. Mini goes western or English, she’s a lovely jumper, and she’s great with younger riders. She bonds with her person and is patient with amateur mistakes, tolerant of having a blanket thrown over her or a costume put on, which has made her a lot of fun for her last two pre-teen girls. For many years Mini has been ridden 3-5 times a week by a young amateur in horsemanship, liberty, jump classes, and has most recently competed in schooling shows for 3-day eventing. She was ridden on drill team, in parades, on the beach in Oregon, and has even done cow sorting! She enjoys attention and aims to please her rider, but she is also sensitive and responsive. She has a lot of go, and is also safe. Mini is 20-21 years old. Mini has: -nice ground manners -is easy to catch -loads and hauls well -is good for farrier (she’s been under the care of Ty Graves) -has had great/consistent vet care, vax and worming, farrier, and teeth -She is social, but not herd-bound -Does not crib, pace or weave -loves treats and attention, can sometimes be pushy about having her face rubbed, especially after a long riding session. -Stands quietly, but if left alone for too long will paw the ground impatiently -does well with turn-out. -at her current barn she is supplemented with grain and alfalfa pellets, and is turned out with a blanket all winter. -Currently in shoes, with the rear ones likely to be pulled by the farrier this month. She has been barefoot in the past. -Spring 2024 she had a broken splint on right rear leg. Under Dr. Grace’s care we put her on stall rest for 8 weeks. We have radiographs available of before and after that injury as well as films of all four feet. -Following 8 weeks stall rest we rehabbed her daily for a few weeks before riding again. Her young rider did a great job following the recovery plan under her trainer’s supervision. When she returned to riding, Mini was better than ever and went on to compete at Rebecca Farm in Montana in September and then the Spooktacular at Spokane Sport Horse in October, completing dressage tests and jumping at the starter level with a clean round in both schooling shows. Mini has been jumping 2’3” in shows, but jumps 2’8” in practice and is quite capable. She enjoys XC and handles herself well in new situations. Looking for a great new home, asking 12 🥕s or best. Due to all she’s learned from Mini, my daughter is moving up to a larger horse and more competition, and we can’t own and ride two! Mini is ready for another young rider to move through the paces with her. Located in Sandpoint, Idaho.
