15y/o 13.3 hand Halflinger gelding. A stocky little dude at about 950lbs. For the past 5-6 years, Moxy has primarily been used for arena and trail riding, trails being the primary focus. He was previously used in a kids lesson program where he did dressage and jumping/cross country. He remembers his jumping days and seems to love it. Pros-Easy to catch, happily will call for you and run to greet you at the gate when he sees you. He truly knows how to melt a girls heart ❤️ He loves people. Barefoot with good strong feet that are maintained every 6 weeks by a fabulous barefoot trimmer. Wears Scoot Boots in the fronts for rocky rides. Good for the farrier, vet and bodyworker. Ties and leads well. Knows how to follow a feel. Loves to be groomed and fussed with. Easy on the eyes and has hair for days. Sweet and silly personality. Hop on bareback? No problem! Can be soft and responsive to your aids when his focus is with you. Moves off leg pressure and responds to your seat. Lateral work ✅ Side passes and opens gates. Stands at the mounting block or whatever log or stump you find on the trail. Goes through water, over bridges, logs (sometimes lining up for a jump 🫣) Rides in a group or alone. Lead or follow. Not rushy behind other horses. Rides in a comfort snaffle. Very sure footed. Will happily log a new trail if you ask him, just point and shoot. He loves jumping, obstacles and liberty work. No herd bound behaviors. Super intelligent. Cons-Super Intelligent 🤣 He can be pushy and mouthy on the ground if you let him. Will test his rider and take advantage of the situation if he can. He can be sensitive and reactive. Has bolted after a spook and bucked a few times. Very persistent trail muncher so we ride him with a Munch-N-Done. Hard to fit for saddles with a very short and wide back. Currently rides in a fully adjustable leather tree saddle from Hidalgo Sattel after trying many fixed tree saddles without success. He has a big bubble when you work with him in the arena around other horses. He thinks lunging is boring work and would rather you just skip it. He will but makes you work for it. When riding in the arena or directly off the property he can be very reluctant to go. Definitely more of a push ride. He’s a nervous hauler. Loads with patience and extra encouragement. When he’s hauled out for trail rides, he rides off much more eagerly. Can be spooky in new situations and reactive if something comes up behind him or if he can hear something but not see it. He’s not a fan of being bathed or fly spray but will tolerate it with patience. With all that being said, he’s just not the right fit for his current owner. He needs an experienced rider. We will not sell him to a senior home as he also needs a strong rider. We would like to see him go to a knowledgeable Halflinger home who knows and loves the breed and will accept him and love him for who he is. A sweet but very smart and sometimes naughty drafty pony.
